Microdata Modeling and Analysis

The Microdata Modeling and Analysis Program provides modeling and analysis of social and economic data to support Government policy decisions using micro-data models. Model development is done primarily in response to evolving issues and changes in the structure and nature of the Newfoundland and Labrador economy. The focus of this Program is to provide specialized information to policy makers and Departments, often through partnerships with the academic community.

Major Modeling Tools

  • Social Policy Simulation Database and Model (SPSD/M)

A sophisticated modeling system created by Statistics Canada which is designed to analyze the financial flows between governments and households by simulating changes in taxes and transfers that may occur at both the Federal and Provincial levels of government.

  • Labour Market Analysis Technology/Database (LMAT/D)

A computer based model used to store, manipulate and analyze data related to the Employment Insurance (E.I.) program.
